Speck

Last week, while I was washing dishes, David beckoned me to come outside.

In his hands was the cutest lil dog I've ever seen.

He was scruffy and dirty.

David informed me that the puppy was abandoned at a jobsite.

He asked me, "should I take him to the pound?"

WHAT? um no...you cannot take this baby to the pound.

So, we decided to add him to the roster of characters at the

Foy Family Farm.

Sophia insisted we name him "Speck" after Pee Wee Herman's dog.

We all agreed that the name suit him well.

And so it is, Speck is now a Foy.

A Visit from the Foys (the other ones)

When we got back from our California road trip we were blessed with a visit from Uncle Ryan, Aunt G (Geraldine) and Christian (we missed you Josh). They stayed through the weekend and we missed them even before the left our driveway. We begged them to move here. If it wasn't so blasted hot that weekend it might've worked.
The girls couldn't leave Uncle Ryan alone.
Apparently, he's one heck of a dosey- doe-er.
We stayed up late and ate and ate and ate while the kids wrastled.

We paid a visit to our Foy ancestor's mask at the town square here in Washington City. The Foys were pioneers!
A visit wouldn't be complete without a trip up to
Parowan for charm and ice cream.
Hey Ryan and G- Come back soon. We miss you!

Frolic

I imagined that frolicking in a meadow would be magical.
Only, in real life it's bumpy and difficult to navigate through.
There's a metaphor in there somewhere
(I'm sure of it).

Emma June Turns 4 and Goes Poop (finally)

Emma June turned 4 on our trip. This birthday was extra special because our lil firecracker has come a long way. For well over a year we've tried to convince our princess that going poop wasn't scary. She became a master at holding "it" in (sometimes for weeks at a time). But we are proud to announce that her Highness has agreed that going poop is an acceptable function. Things have really turned around for Emma June. She is full of joy and is the most royal princess in the land, not to mention the best ballerina in town!
We celebrated her birthday, together as a family, at a pizza joint amongst the magical Sequoias. Our impromptu party was complete with princess gifts, princess plates and donuts!

Giants

Trees are very special to our family...especially to Mr. Foy. David knows all there is to know about trees. So it was special for us to see the largest trees in the world, the Sequoias! We didn't have room reservations and the entire park was full. We spent each night in a different room. The first night was in a rustic tent cabin in Grants Grove and the second night was spent on the other end of the forest in Kings Canyon (an adventure in itself). Being up close to these giant trees is truly magical. We ate ice cream, chased chipmunks, took walks, and enjoyed Ranger firesides.

San Simeon State Beach

One of our favorite stops on the Central Coast is San Simeon State Beach. California's Central Coast is relaxing and romantic. The coastline is magical and reminiscent of California's bygone era.

Cali Road Trip - Part 2

On our way up CA HWY 101 we stopped off at Classic Organic (just north of Goleta). We spent some time picking strawberries and admiring the proprietor's AMAZING organic produce (seriously the most beautiful lettuce I've ever seen).

Cali Road Trip - Day 1

David has been working in Riverside, CA. I decided to pack up The Littles and head down there for a spontaneous road trip. I didn't have anything planned, I just knew we needed to get away for a bit. We left on Thursday and rolled into Riverside just in time for our sweet nephew Christian's 3rd birthday party.
Christian refused to open his eyes for pictures!
All three Foys in one location...amazing! Dave's older sister Jen and lil bro Ryan.

Rachel insists on wearing a helmet wherever she goes.
Jackpot!!!
The cousins
minus Josh (Josh was with his mom on a trip)

After the party we stayed the night at a hotel in Riverside. I left Rachel's pack n play at home and just got one room for all of us! The hotel didn't have a crib or an extra bed. So there we were...6 Foys, 2 beds.

The next day we loaded in the minivan (with daddy) and drove up the coast. We didn't have any plans, or reservations.

4th of July, 2010

We woke everyone up early to drive an hour north to Parowan for the parade. We marked our spot with blankets and walked over to the Cafe for breakfast.

The parade was smaller this year. The kids had no clue about the absent marching bands. They were too busy grabbing parade candy.
After the parade we walked over to the park to watch Emma June and Rachel run in a foot race.

We grabbed a few ice cream cones and relaxed under a large tree in our favorite small town.
Before we got home we picked up some fireworks (another reason I love living in Utah!)

We spent the rest of the day swimming and eating.
Usually, we invite a bunch of friends and celebrate til firework time. But, this year we felt like laying low. Our only guest was Gigi, which I guess doesn't count cuz she's always with us.

Yeah, fireworks in the street!
